The Walla Walla Valley is a beloved part of the world for obvious reasons—wine, wheat and onions. There is more to discover.

With more than 1 million acres of national forest spanning three wilderness areas across southeast Washington and northeast Oregon, the region offers hundreds of miles of trails; over 1,000 miles of wild, uninterrupted rivers; soft, dry, waist-deep snow; and enough gravel roads to keep even the most seasoned cyclists exploring.

From families with small children to experienced thrill seekers, there truly is something for everyone. The terrain surrounding Walla Walla is distinct and compelling, making it an incredible place to recreate.

The Outside Walla Walla website exists for the adventurous, a collection of tales from the wild and inspiration to spark your own outdoor story. No experience required. With over 100 ideas to enjoy the outdoors, the site is a recreation hub of information, from digital guides and an interactive map to connection with outfitters and events.

Does a hike on a snow-dusted trail sound refreshing? Would an evening ride chasing shadows and racing the sunset illustrate the cycle of the seasons? Is it too late for a water adventure? No. Too early to think about snow days? Never.

The dust-filled skies of harvest are a mainstay of August, but it is time for fresh air. Fall is here. Soak up the fleeting daylight, and go Outside Walla Walla!
