A new trail run is coming to the Spokane running scene June 30. The Mountain Magic 10k/25k will feature two separate loops on Mt. Spokane’s Nordic ski trails. The 10k loop is fairly flat for most portions, by mountain trail run standards; while the 15k loop, which is added to it to make the 25k course, presents some reasonably challenging elevations throughout.
A few things are unique about this course. The trails are wide and airy, but a lot of it is still basically single-track, so you get some great views along the way. It’s also one of the less technical trail runs in the area, without a lot of rocks to trip you up, so you can get up a good rhythm. And it’s flat-out gorgeous—especially at that time of year. Expect a fully-stocked aid station at the center intersection of the loops and hearty post-race refreshments.
