The Spokane River Rowing Association (SRRA) is launching its spring season on Silver Lake just west of Spokane in May, welcoming rowers of all backgrounds and skill levels. Since 2003, SRRA has worked to foster a supportive, inclusive and environmentally conscious rowing community in the greater Spokane area, offering both recreational and competitive opportunities.

Adult Learn to Row classes provide an introduction to the sport for beginners and those looking to refine their skills. Spring sessions cover the structure of a rowing shell, proper entry and exit techniques, safety protocols on the water and basic rowing techniques. Multiple scheduling options are available in May and June. Youth ages 12-17 can take part in SRRA programs as well. A Youth Learn to Row Camp will be held in June and July as a six-day camp running from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., with sessions focused on building rowing skills, teamwork and confidence.

SRRA members are also encouraged to volunteer during at least two spring work days in early May to prepare launch sites for the season. Rowing with SRRA is open to individuals of all abilities and financial backgrounds, with donations supporting programming, equipment, future facilities and opportunities for underrepresented groups and adaptive rowing programs. For schedules and registration, visit SpokaneRowing.org or email [email protected].
