Summer at Schweitzer is all about getting up into the cool high country for long mountain days. Head out on one of the hiker-only trails like the 2.5-mile Nature Trail that starts near the village or take your pick of other routes from the resort’s 20-mile hiking trail network. You can also take the scenic chairlift ride to the summit on the Great Escape Quad for food, drinks and panoramic views at The Nest Bar & Restaurant. Soak up the scenery on a short walk before hopping back on the lift or hike back down to the village.
Mountain bikers have more reasons than ever to plan a trip to Schweitzer. The diverse mountain bike trail system continues to grow and evolve, making the resort one of the top mountain bike destinations in the Northwest. The trail network is anchored by the resort’s 40 miles of lift-served intermediate and expert bike trails, while new trails continue to be added off-resort in the adjacent Basin Trail System with routes that range from flow and XC to challenging DH descents.

Schweitzer’s summer events calendar adds even more reasons to visit. Race the Wolf trail running weekend returns June 20-21, followed by Northwest Winefest July 18-19 and the Aether’s Traverse gravel bike race Aug. 15. Throughout the season, the village also hosts live music and family-friendly activities including the Summer Activity Center which has a climbing wall, zipline and bungee trampoline. Labor Day weekend brings Fall Fest and one final opportunity to enjoy the mountain trails and village festivities with live music and brews on tap before summer winds down.
