A community favorite, the Round “About 5k” walk/run will be held on July 23 in Deer Park. This event was begun by Deer Park Physical Therapy in 2011 to encourage community wellness through physical fitness while raising money for a great cause. Proceeds from the event go towards The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. LLS is a voluntary organization that funds blood cancer research and provides support services worldwide. In the past six years, Deer Park Physical Therapy has raised approximately $15,000 for LLS. Bev Roberts, Administrative Assistant and Public Relations Coordinator for Deer Park Physical Therapy, says of the event, “each year I invite businesses to sponsor, I come across people who have encountered blood cancer. It is then I know why it is that we have chosen to organize and host the Round About 5k.” Whether you’re a runner, a walker, or you just want to support a great cause grab your sunblock and start the day off right with the Round About 5k. The race will begin at 8 a.m. For more information or to register visit http://www.roundabout5k.com/. //
