Last Saturday morning, new owners — Geoff Forshag and Bruce Abbotts — unlocked the doors at the downtown bike shop Two Wheel Transit.

The shop will continue carrying Trek and Gary Fisher bikes, and Bontrager gear and parts, and it will remain a full service maintenance and repair shop. “We’re going to be more of a Trek dealer rather than focusing on some of the high-end lines,” says Forshag. Trek — which also owns Fisher, a mountain bike line — is the country’s largest bicycle manufacturer, says Forshag. “The quality and the expertise that that gives us, that focus allows us to better meet the needs of the customers with a more broad product line.”

Dr. Abbotts, a pediatrician at Valley Young Peoples Clinic, will offer bike fitting sessions for customers in the new bike fitting studio the owners plan to add to the shop. “We want to continue and build on the community involvement,” says Forshag. In a press release announcing the new ownership, Abbotts named Bike to Work Week and Spokefest as two event the company will likely support.

Two Wheel Transit is located at 1405 W. 1st Avenue. Call 747-2231or visit twowheeltransit.com for information on the store.
