German producer of outdoor gear Jack Wolfskin continues to carve out a U.S. niche with quality products like the Terraquest boot. While I haven’t been able to test them long enough to prove this, a quick inspection of the quality design and durable materials lends me to believe these boots are made to stand up to miles of rough trail abuse. In addition to a waterproof and breathable membrane, I like how well built they are, with features like durable nubuck leather and abrasion resistant Cordura ballistic fabric, reinforced lace eyelets, and solid Vibram soles. All of that also means they weigh a little more than some other lightweight hiking footwear, but the trade off in this case seems worth it. MSRP: $199.95. Us.jackwolfskin.com
