Conservation Futures Public Nominations Meeting

The Conservation Futures Program will hold a meeting Thursday, June 16, from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Centerplace Regional Event Center at 2426 N. Discovery Place in the Spokane Valley.

The meeting, which will be open to the public, will be an opportunity to provide input to committee members who will then prioritize a ranked list of properties to be considered by the Board of Spokane County Commissioners for acquisition and protection through the Spokane County Conservation Futures Program.Big_Rock

A total of 38 property nominations have been received thus far by Spokane County for the 2016 Conservation Futures Round.

The program, which was conceived in 1994, works to acquire and preserve Spokane County’s open space, streams, rivers, and other natural resources for the benefit of the people of Spokane County and local wildlife.

The meeting itself presents an opportunity for the public to learn more about the program, and share feedback and comments with the committee.

The meeting will consist of an “Open House” from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. followed by a presentation and public comment period from 5:45 – 7:00 p.m. If you have questions about the Public Meeting, call John Bottelli, Assistant Parks & Recreation Director, at (509) 477-2529, or visit the Conservation Futures website.
