Hit the Salmon River’s famed whitewater with experienced guides offering discounted raft trips all day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Paddle huge boat munching waves with names like The Pencil Sharpener, The Pancake Wave, The Big Easy and The Haystack. Enjoy the pleasant weather and magnificent scenery and wildlife of the Riggins area and the second deepest gorge in North America. Get your thrill seeking in all day on the river and watch the boats, catarafts, kayaks, and drift boats ride the waves.
If you’re not up for challenging the whitewater yourself, there’s excellent rapid viewing from the road in several locations, beautiful beaches, nearby hiking trails (like the Rapid River and Wind River Trails) and there’s a Dutch oven cook-off at Riggins City Park. Arrive at the city park in time to enter your specialty in the famous Dutch Oven Cook-off contest. Cooking begins at 5 p.m. and dishes are ready for the judges at 7.
