Frequently Asked SNO-GO Ski Bike Questions
What Spokane-area ski resorts allow SNO-GO ski bikes?
Currently, Silver Mountain Resort and 49 Degrees North Mountain Resort allow the use of ski bikes on their chairlifts. Please check back regularly as more ski resorts embrace this growing sport!
Is it easy to get on a chairlift with a ski bike?
SNO-GO ski bikes have been designed to be lift-friendly and are as easy to load as skis and snowboards. Watch the “How to Ride” video above for detailed instructions or follow the steps below:
- Approach the lift with your ski bike, similar to how you would with skis or a snowboard.
- Let the chair slide underneath the lift bar on the bike.
- Hold onto the handlebars to secure.
- Put the bike in between your legs.
When first visiting a resort, we recommend checking with the lift operators for any unique lift protocols they may have for ski bikes. The lift operator can assist you with positioning the bike on the chairlift.
Is ski biking more dangerous than other winter sports?
Similar to any outdoor activity, ski biking carries inherent risk, but it is not necessarily more dangerous than skiing or snowboarding. In fact, the seated position and lower center of gravity can provide more stability and control, potentially reducing the risk of certain types of falls or injuries. However, as with any sport, proper instruction, equipment, and adherence to safety guidelines are crucial for minimizing risk.
What kind of boots should I wear?
For maximum comfort and grip on the tracks, we strongly recommend riders wear snowboard boots. Sturdy winter boots will work adequately as well. We do NOT recommend ski boots because they will not properly grip the tracks, increasing the risk of crashes and injury.
Does the SNO-Go Ski Bike come apart for easy transport?
The SNO-GO Shift bike separates into three sections for easy transport. Ask one of the Wheel Sport team members to show you how when you pick up your rental.
Do I need to fill out a waiver?
Yes, we require a waiver for EVERY rider. This means all riders 18 and over need to come to the store to sign the form. Parents need to sign for riders under 18. Riders can print and fill out the form here ahead of time to save time in the store.
