You may have seen ice skaters at the Skate Ribbon in downtown Spokane’s Riverfront Park this winter, but its official summer use is for wheels. Admission is free if you bring your own skates, scooter, or skateboard. The Skate Ribbon is open from 5:00 a.m. to midnight every day, and you can rent gear from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (an hour-long skate rental is $6.50). Helmets are required by law, and are a good idea anyway, and you should have wrist guards, knee pads, and elbow pads. These safety guards are available for free at the skate rental counter. Kids under 15 require adult supervision, and everyone should wear closed-toed shoes. You can reserve a birthday party on the Ribbon, or grab a hotdog, pizza, frozen lemonade, and more at the connecting Sky Ribbon Café. Skate to your heart’s content!
