The Rathdrum Adventure Race helps you answer the call to adventure in an alternative way with its alternative triathlon featuring bicycling/mountain biking, kayaking on the Twin Lakes, and a forest run.
The triathlon, which takes place on September 10, in Rathdrum, Idaho, helps to celebrate the great outdoors of the Inland Northwest.
The race begins at 8 a.m. in the Rathdrum City Park, and features either a Short Course or a Long Course for those looking for more of a challenge.
“This is a fun and challenging opportunity for everyone,” says Shanie Rountree, race coordinator. “There is an easier Short Course as well as the more challenging Long Course, plus people can participate as teams or as individuals.”
The short course consists of a 5.4 mile bike ride on a path, a 2 mile kayak, and a 5.3 mile run back to the park. If you choose the Long Course, you’ll be mountain biking for 19.7 miles on Rathdrum Mountain, then kayaking 5.5 miles on Twin Lakes, before running 5.5 miles back to the park.
You have the option to either complete the race as an individual (competing in all three legs), or as a team (with each member covering a different leg of the race).
T-shirts, age category awards, and prizes will follow the race.
To register, visit the race website, or active.com. Registration before August 19 is $40 for the Short Course and $60 for the Long Course. Team registration is $100 for the Short Course and $150 for the Long Course.
