On Saturday Out There Monthly was awarded two Northwest Excellence in Journalism Awards from Region 10 Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalism. OTM won 3rd Place for Consumer/Environmental Affairs for Alternative Weeklies for the Virginia de Leon’s piece “What Killed Wilcox Organic Milk?” In addition Out There Monthly won 1st place for Opinion Writing for Jon Snyder’s “From the Editor” collumn. SPJ Region 10 comprises Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. OTM competes in the Alternative Weekly category against larger and more frequent publications because Region 10 does not have a magazine category.
