Raft For the Cure

A new outdoor fundraiser is coming soon:

Susan G. Komen, Eastern Washington partners with ROW Adventures for a new fundraiser called “Raft for the Cure” on the Spokane River. Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Eastern Washington, representing 13 counties in Washington, has teamed up with ROW Adventures to deliver a new event to raise funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer. The rafting trip, “Raft for the Cure,” is scheduled for Sunday, June 13th, 2010 on the Spokane River.

ROW Adventures is not a stranger to this type of even but it will be the first for the Eastern Washington affiliate. “Over the last two years, ROW Adventures has raised over $7,000 and taken 160 guests on the Clark Fork River in Montana benefiting the Susan G. Komen foundation,” explains Peter Grubb, founder of ROW Adventures.

Rafting enthusiasts have been riding the Spokane River for years and ROW Adventures renewed their operations there in 2009. The river provides a central location for the event where guests will experience small ripples up to Class III rapids. The four-hour trip meets at ROW Adventures Spokane store at W. 17 Main Street. Rafters are then transported to the launch at Peaceful Valley below the Maple Street bridge and paddles through Riverside State Park including the Bowl & Pitcher, to the take-out at Plese Flat.

“We are so excited about this and grateful for ROW Adventures for donating their time and energy to our cause,” says Kelly Stanicar, representative for the Eastern Washington Affiliate.

The main fund-raising event for Susan G. Komen, Eastern Washington is their annual Race for the Cure which happens in the middle of April each year. Raft for the Cure does not conflict with this event. “We are so excited about this and grateful for ROW Adventures for donating their time and energy to our cause.” Says Kelly Stanicar, representative for the Eastern Washington Affiliate. “It complements our Race and gives us something new that hopefully creates a new buzz and excitement around the cause in Eastern Washington.”

The event is open to the public with a minimum age of 10 years. There are 42 spaces available and the price is $69 per person of which $39 is donated to Susan G. Komen, Eastern Washington.
