New Site for Sports and Recreation Resources in Spokane

The breadth and depth of Spokane’s sports and recreation community exceeds the scope of most mid-major cities in America. But long time Out There Outdoors contributor Brad Northrup couldn’t find one source for all things sports and recreation-related in Spokane, so he decided to build a website himself.

At first glance, the local recreation community is famous for Bloomsday, Hoopfest, the Flying Irish and Gonzaga Basketball. Northrup reports, “At first, I think the groups that are represented the least in terms of traditional means of exposure will benefit the most. Groups like hikers, runners, and mountain bikers don’t have as much media exposure like team sports or snow sports do, so providing a resource that provides information for those groups will hopefully help facilitate more interest.”

There’s something for everyone on this website. Northrup features the Spokane Indians, the Spokane Chiefs, all of the GSL high school event links, plus the six Eastern Washington colleges and universities. Going forward, people can anticipate more information being added, more content, and a blog. Visitors can also expect to see a video upgrade to the site with more interactive media.

Northrup also welcomes feedback and suggestions from the recreation community. If you would like to see your recreation program added to the website, please contact info@spokanesportsandrec.com. Check the site out at Spokanesportsandrec.com. //
