2012 Valley Girl Triathalon

Live Well Network’s host, “Live Big with Ali Vincent” to compete in the Valley Girl Triathlon this Sunday!

Ali Vincent is celebrated and known for winning the 3rd Season of The Biggest Loser. “ I have never done the Valley Girl Triathlon before but I am very excited to compete this year. Everyone should try an endurance event at least once”, said Vincent. Vincent also competed in the West Plains WunderWoman in 2011 and is a national spokesperson for healthy living. Also competing in her final triathlon at 81 years old will be Sandpoint’s, Annette Orton.

On July 8, 2012 the 9th Annual Valley Girl Triathlon will converge upon Liberty Lake, WA for the annual, Women’s Sprint Distance Triathlon (1/3 mile swim, 12.0 mile bike, and 3 mile run). “We are expecting 600 + women this year. This race is perfect for the first timer and beginner but we feature an Elite category (featuring $1000.00 cash purse) as well so our abilities and fitness levels are uniquely diverse. Our participant ages span the decades with our youngest competitor at 11 years old and our oldest at 81 years young. We are all here to celebrate women’s health and fitness”, says Marla Emde, Event Organizer and Director.

The triathlon swim starts at 7:45 am at the Liberty Lake Village Homeowners Beach located at Inlet Drive and Molter Road. Athletes will be running across the finish line at Pavillion Park between 8:45 am and 11:30 am with the fastest ladies finishing in just under an hour.

Free shuttle buses will be running for spectators from the Park and Ride near Country Vista and Mission, traveling the loop from the swim start to the finish area at family friendly Pavillion Park.

The Best Western Peppertree Inn at Liberty Lake is the host hotel for the event and major sponsors for this years event are; Fitness Fanatics, REI, Liberty Lake Therapeutic Associates Physical Therapy, Valley Hospital, Hammer Nutrition, Liberty Lake Village Homeowners Assn., Spokane Parks and Recreation, NWOS and the City of Liberty Lake and SCOPE.

The Valley Girl is one the largest women’s only triathlons in the Northwest and Liberty Lake’s largest sporting event. This event is a perennial favorite for women in our area but also boasts many participants from Washington State and beyond. Proceeds are donated to Transitions, a Spokane based organization serving low-income women and children in need.
