Each spring, the lead up to the Spokane Aurora Northwest Rotary Club’s Lilac Century Ride has signaled the start of the summer road riding season for hundreds of Spokane area cyclists. Now with a gravel course added to the mix, the event, set for Sunday, May 19, has broadened its appeal to riders seeking off-pavement pedaling.
The four paved road courses and the gravel route all cover the scenic farm and forest landscapes surrounding Green Bluff in north Spokane from a well-chosen starting and finishing location at Big Barn Brewing that promises a spirited post-ride finale. Once again, all of the funds raised from this community ride go to support a range of worthy non-profit causes.
2024 Lilac Century Ride Lengths & Course Options
One of the great things about this ride is the diversity of ride lengths and difficulty, allowing groups of family and friends with different riding ability or fitness levels to participate in an event together yet still pursue their own desired level of biking challenge or chill. All rides tour the foothill and farm country around Green Bluff and Peone Prairie.
For 2024, there are four paved-road routes. A nod to the event’s name, options do include a 100-mile century length ride along with three shorter-distance courses.
- 100 mile (Start time 7 am) 2 laps of 50 mile course
- 66 mile (Start time 8 am) 1 1/2 laps of 50 mile course
- 50 mile (Start time 8 am)
- 25 mile (Start time 9 am)
