Lemonade Loppet Fun Run/Snowshoe at Mount Spokane (March 1, 2015)

What do you do when Mother Nature pulls the plug on the season’s snow pack right before one of the region’s most popular Nordic events? Make lemonade out of the situation and have fun on the trails anyway! The Spokane Nordic Ski Association’s planned a 20/30/50km “Loppet” Spokane Nordic Challenge ski event that was set for Sunday, March 1, won’t be happening this year since there’s not enough snow to groom, but the Lemonade Loppet fun run and snowshoe celebration is set to take its place. Choose from 5, 10 or 15k routes. This is a unique chance for a hilly winter trail run, relaxed hike or late-season snowshoe since the forest and trails are still gorgeous. Extra foot traction like running spikes or snowshoes are recommended since there is still some hard-packed snow on the trails.

The registration deadline is Sunday, February 22 if you want to take home a t-shirt and online registration closes at 6 p.m. on Friday, February 27. The cost is $25 for the 5k, $30 for the 10k, and $35 for the 15k, with all proceeds benefitting Spokane Nordic and the amazing trails at Mt. Spokane. Need snowshoes? Free snowshoe loaners are available to the first 20 who request them from info@spokanenordic.org. Go to spokanenordic.org/lemonade to learn more and sign up. //
