Crosstoberfest Cyclocross Festival

A race that allows spectators to cowbell, cheer, and even heckle the athletes? This is one you won’t want to miss.

The Wildcrest Cx Series will converge on Sandpoint Idaho on Oct 1 and 2 for the fifth annual Crosstoberfest Cyclocross Festival. This isn’t any ordinary race. Competitors will be racing across grass, sand, mud, hills, and obstacles which often require them to dismount and run with their bikes, all while being encouraged, and, even, yes, heckled.

The third stop in the Series, Sandpoint will host the Festival at the University of Idaho Satellite Campus on North Boyer Avenue. There will be something for everyone, whether you want to watch the cyclists, walk to raise money for autism, participate in an obstacle run, or watch people get caught up in the moment and throw some bikes around.

During the Klunker Toss, for example, participants attempt to throw a heavy bike the furthest in exchange for a donation. Distances will be recorded and, scored, and bragging rights doled out.

The Festival will also feature food, beer, and wine, along with a disc jockey and music.

New features this year include a reconfigured downhill to the run up and a monster banked turn, and each day will have a different course.

Dedicated spectators will have the option of camping at the race site.
