Blue Waters Bluegrass Festival Returns with World-Class Musicians

Every summer since 2002, the Blue Waters Bluegrass Festival has returned to Waterfront Park in Medical Lake for several days of music under the pines. Now in its 24th year, this year’s festival runs Aug. 7-9 and includes world-class and regional bluegrass acts, including headliners Chris Jones & the Night Drivers, who have collectively won 12 IBMA awards and racked up 27 number-one songs.

Other acclaimed acts headed to the stage include Vickie Vaughn—three-time IBMA Bass Player of the Year—and Brooklyn folk-bluegrass trio Damn Tall Buildings. The full lineup features multiple additional national and regional musicians. The festival is a nonprofit run entirely by volunteers, keeping ticket prices affordable while maintaining high-quality entertainment. Kids under 12 get in free with a parent or guardian. A Junior Workshop runs Friday and Saturday for musicians 20 and under, regardless of ability, wrapping up with an on-stage showcase. RV and tent camping are available onsite and there are opportunities for paddling on the lake or exploring the lakeside trail. More info at Bluewatersbluegrass.org
