Spokane Spring Adventures Blends Rafting, Riding, and Wildcrafting Weekend

Spokane Spring Adventures is coming May 15–17—a three-day, family-friendly weekend built around what makes Spokane especially good in the spring. Spokane-area tour operator Wander Spokane is partnering with Wiley E. Waters, Herbal Expeditions and North Division Bicycle Shop to highlight river, trail and nature experiences. Additional elements are in the works as the weekend continues to take shape.

The event will be your chance to raft the spring flows of the Spokane River, one of the best windows of the year to be on the water. Guided trips with Wiley E. Waters provide a safe, structured way to experience a stretch of whitewater that runs through the heart of the city. The weekend also includes a guided ride at Riverside State Park, which is ideal for riders who want help navigating the park or those who prefer to explore with others as they learn new terrain. North Division will offer discounted rentals throughout the whole weekend for participants riding with the group or on their own.

Participants will also get a chance to learn wildcrafting in the field with an interactive game with an introduction to medicinal plants in their natural environment. Teams are assigned common “ailments” and must identify plants that have traditionally been used to address them. Plant safety and ethical foraging basics are covered before the game begins. Bringing the wildcraft element full circle, Herbal Expeditions will offer a workshop on preparing plants into remedies such as salves, tinctures, and teas, connecting field identification to practical use.
