Hike Deep Creek Canyon in Riverside State Park and Learn about Ice Age Floods Story

Saturday, September 14, geologist, Michael Hamilton, will lead you through Deep Creek Canyon off of the Spokane River.  It has some very interesting Flood features as well as an outcrop of a Miocene lake bed bottom full of fossils from an ancient forest.  This four (4) mile hike requires climbing over some rocks and is rated “moderate” in difficulty.  Registered hikers will meet at 1 p.m. at the end-of-the-road parking on North Riverside Park Drive, off Seven Mile Road.  Hikers will return about 3:30 p.m.  Detailed registration information and forms are available on www.iafi.org/events.
